Ac.Milan has struggled trying to secure pieces of silverware at a consistent basis how they used to do a few years ago. Back in 2007, Ac.Milan was considered to be the best club in Europe as they won the Champions League during the season of 2006-07 after defeating Liverpool with a final scoreboard 2-1.

In that match, Ac.Milan had a squad consisting of world class players including: Paolo Maldini, Filippo Inzaghi, Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka.

Unfortunately for Ac.Milan, it has been a very long time since the Italian club has managed to secure the services of top players as their former glory days. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva are the latest players that have worn the Ac.Milan jersey but those players didn’t last a very long time as both of them were offloaded fairly quickly.

The Champions League of 2006-07 was the latest truly big European title that Ac.Milan has lifted, they have struggled to achieve something significant since that season which was over 8 years ago.

One of the reasons of why Ac.Milan is not the same powerful and dominating club that it was in the 2000’s is simply because of the lack of funding. The owner Silvio Berlusconi just has not been splashing cash as he did a few years ago but now new owners are taking over Ac.Milan and the new Chinese owners have assured that they will wipe out the clubs’ debt which is in the region of €300 million as well as invest a significant amount of cash in signing new top players.

This is what the Italian club needs in order to start winning titles again and become one of the titans of Europe as they used to be.

Football has turned into a sport where money is dictating which clubs win big European leagues. Money has always been influential in football but it has recently been much more prominent than some time ago.

Ever since the cash started to roll in Manchester City, they started to win pieces of silverware and supporters of Ac.Milan are hoping that the Italian club can get back to their throne.
