Crochet Socks – Week 1

Making socks has been on my list for a few years. I learnt how to knit and had plans to make knit socks, but I never got to it and went back to crocheting. I then resolved that I would crochet socks but well, several years later it still hasn’t happened.

As a result, I decided to start a crochet-a-long in a sock group I am on through Ravelry. The idea behind it is, a group of people work on a set of socks together. Each person works at their own pace but at least when they are having troubles or issues, they are able to ask others for help.

We started by having people suggest patterns and then we split them into free and paid, knowing that some people may not be able to afford to buy a pattern. Then a poll was setup and people could pick the one they liked and the winner was the one we selected.

If you are on Ravelry, it isn’t too late to join! The original start date was January 3, 2016 but I know people will be working at all speeds.

This week my plan is do a swatch to figure out what I will need to manage to make gauge. This may actually be important in this project!

I am going to use “Paton’s Stretch Socks” yarn which has been in my stash for a couple years.
