Shopify, a Canadian e-commerce software company, got a huge vote of confidence on Thursday from e-commerce giant Amazon. This was after Shopify Inc. teamed up with online retailing giant Amazon.com Inc. to help merchants create their own online stores. This move essentially had the online retail giant Amazon, admitting defeat through its own efforts to compete with platforms like Shopify.
This deal will mark the end of Amazon Webstore from now.Amazon merchants using Webstore can now seamlesslystart to move their online store to Shopify.Shopify provides e-commerce hosting with SSL encryption,hosted shopping cart,unlimited bandwidth,blazing fast servers and a vast content delivery network to ensure your site is always online and secure.Shopify will then provide a 30-day free trial followed by a tool to import their entire web store into Shopify.Through Webstore,Amazon provided small and medium-size businesses with an e-commerce platform.Making of the deal saw Shopify stock soaring 24 per cent on the news to $47.25 at the close in New York.The stock has about doubled since going public in May
For Shopify,the deal is a through way to let its more than 175,000 merchant customers sell goods on as many platforms as possible.Merchants with Shopify stores will be able to cross-list their products on Amazon’s marketplace and also take advantage of Amazon’s huge consumer base.Currently Shopify has similar arrangements with Pinterest Inc.,Facebook Inc.and Twitter Inc.
