On July 15, 2015, Amazon is launching the biggest sale of the year. Termed as the Prime Day, Amazon says that it will have more products and deals than even on Black Friday. Now that is how we celebrate Christmas in July, isn’t it?
Although 15 is not a prime number, it sure is Prime Day for Amazon.
What products will have deals on Amazon Prime Day?
Everything! If you have been following Black Friday deals on Amazon for a few years, you likely know the pattern. Amazon would roll out new deals on every category every half hour. But this Prime Day, Amazon says, is going to top that. Deals will now be introduced in 10-minute intervals.
Given that shopping for Christmas and the holidays gifts start as early as July, it is a perfect day for saving big bucks and preparing for the upcoming season. According to Google Consumer Survey done in 2013, nearly 33% of people shop as early as July for the Christmas. And they do save big money and steer the holiday rush.
But there’s a catch.
Prime Day deals are only available for Amazon Prime members. The service costs $99 per year but comes with benefits like unlimited TV shows on Amazon video, free 2-day shipping and unlimited free music streaming among others. The good news is that you can try Prime for 30 days without having to spend a dime. Yes, you can subscribe it now, see if there are good deals on the day, and if not, you can cancel your Prime subscription without having to pay a dime.
What I’m buying on Prime Day (if there’s a savings deal for that)
Apart from a wireless printer, I have been meaning to get the Fire HDX 8.9″ tablet that will complement my reading habits. This Amazon-created holiday is clearly its plan to get more shoppers signed up for Prime, but you can take advantage of this service to see what you can get on July 15. I have already activated my Prime trial and have set a calendar reminder to cancel the service on July 29 if the service does not seem worthwhile.
