November 8th, 2016, America elected a new President.
A discussion about American Presidents can be never ending but never uninteresting. In addition, every presidential election is a great time for retrospection; to look back and take stock of where former American presidents have led US and determine how we should go forward. Agree?
George Washington served as President of the United States from 1789 to 1797 (about a decade). The most significant accomplishment that occurred during his administration is that the Bill of Rights became law.
While he was serving as leader of a new free world – though they may or may not have had plans – nine other men were destined to occupy the same position and serve as leaders of the land of the free and the home of the brave. American Presidents AFTER George Washington, in order: John Adams; Thomas Jefferson; James Madison; James Monroe; John Quincy Adams; Andrew Jackson; Martin Van Buren; William Henry Harrison; and John Tyler.
Ever wonder what was happening in the daily lives of these nine men in 1789, the year Washington began serving as POTUS? Historical records indicate – some were already in the political arena, some were pursuing their educational goals, getting married and starting families, etc. – actively engaged in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Why not? That is why they came to the new world! 🙂
