Bubblews Review: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

If you are eagerly searching all over the internet for various ways to earn money through writing, then most probably you have already come across a site named bubblews.com. Who would have not? Bubblews has been continuously making noise in the world of online writing and becoming bigger over the past few months since its launch early in 2012. Many contributors of the site claim that it is the best among revenue-sharing sites to date especially when it comes to pay rate. However, there are also written negative Bubblews reviews in blogs or forums most of which, if not all, came from former members of the site but eventually quit due to a number of reasons which include missing payments. They believe that Bubblews scams people. So, who are we going to believe now? Confused? Read further and discover the good, the bad and the ugly about Bubblews and decide for yourself.

What is Bubblews?

Launched in February 2012, bubblews.com is a writing community and revenue-sharing site which follows a model of 50/50 advertisement revenue split with the members. Every member will be paid a cent ($0.01) for every unique view, like/dislike, comment and social media share his/her articles (posts) garner which can be monitored in “the bank” section of the profile page. Upon reaching the minimum payout, which is currently $50 (previously $25), a member can request for redemption of his/her earnings through check, Visa gift card, Buy-Me-This, or PayPal.

 Bubblews allows members to write anything they want as per their slogan, “Speak Freely, Write You World.” There is a bunch of categories to choose from, and basically, a member can submit an article from every category. No pressure on choosing a niche.

Bubblews pays one cent per unique view, like/dislike, comment and social media share for every article. This is very generous for a writing site which operates on a revenue sharing scheme (although from my experience, I did not get paid for dislikes and as for social media shares, it was uncertain). This is so far the only easy-money I know out there as other writing sites will take you forever to make significant figures on your earnings, and requirements are not hard to comply on. There are members I know who are able to request payout in just less than a week, even in just two or three days.

 Unlike other writing sites which requires a definite number of words (ranging from 100 and above), Bubblews requires only a minimum of 400 characters for an article. Again, characters, not words. That means one can submit and earn from just a paragraph-long write-up as long as it will not be lower than the minimum character count excluding spaces (and too much, unnecessary punctuations). That is indeed easy to come up with, and one can even write on the spot in just five minutes.

 More like a social site rather than a typical writing platform, Bubblews has a very friendly community of members. Most people who got to experience being on the site will agree that it is a nice place to gain (virtual) friends. In fact, in a short period of time I spent there, I found a few friends and I have already met some of them in person.

Bubblews can be very time-consuming. That is true especially during the first few days where one has yet to establish “connections”, or much like followers. A member has to make himself/herself visible to other members through commenting on other articles (the deed they call “interacting”). During this time one can hardly see any movement in his/her statistics which can be disappointing most especially if submitted articles are of good quality.

There is no exact payment for every article since it is a revenue-sharing site. One has to be effective in gaining readership in order to become financially successful in Bubblews. Quality, unfortunately, will not decide for a member’s success although it can somehow be a huge factor for a few.

There is no exact place to find the complete set of rules of the site. There is a section located in “The Bank” tab which indicates a set of rules, but to my experience, it does not cover everything that a member needs to be aware of. There is only a regular account run by a Bubblews staff set to make necessary announcements regarding updates on rules, terms of use, etc.

 The sign-up process is easy as one, two, three. There are no pre-assessment of articles submitted or, at least, screening of new members so the possibility of having non-genuine contributors such as spammers, article spinners and plagiarizers joining the site is huge. This leads to a bunch of low quality write-ups and irrelevant comments posted in Bubblews.

There are many low quality articles posted, and worse, there are even some featured on the home page. Blame it on the easy registration and article requirements!

The staffs are unfriendly and unreliable. This may be a very tough statement but I do believe every member who has tried reaching out to them agrees with this. The first time I contacted them about my missing payment, I received only an automated message telling me not to spam them and that they were doing their best to process every request. I waited for their next response until I got tired of waiting and just accepted the fact that the payment would be forever missing. The next few times I contacted them for inquiries I received no response again. That was the time I asked other Bubblews friends if they were able to receive any word from the support. Their answer is NO.

There are delayed payments. This is somehow tolerable that payment is still sent, only that it is a few to several days delayed. The first time I joined their processing period in reviewing redemptions was only 72 hours as they used to say although it was a few hours or days late. Then just recently, they updated it to seven days due to bulk redemptions to be processed (according to them). However, the updated did not do any better because the delay was only made worse. Payments arrive now 14 or 15 days after requesting for payout.

 The main reason a lot of former members stopped contributing for the site is that they receive no payment at all. In some cases, a member would receive payments three or four times then the succeeding payout requests would be unpaid. What is worse is that when the support will be contacted, there will almost always be no response at all, so it is barely known why the payment had not been sent.

They delete articles with no prior notice. Imagine if you have garnered about two or three dollars for an article and they suddenly deleted it, what would you feel? I have never experience it myself but a few friends that write for Bubblews have. It could’ve been understandable if they delete articles but matched with a little note stating why they are deleted. But then, Bubblews is too unable to have that in their system.

 The ugliest thing about Bubblews that I experienced myself is the sudden account deletion. After almost four months of actively participating and properly following rules, they deleted my account. Good thing was I only made about three dollars by the time they deleted me. Another friend, however, got deleted the same day and she already made more than $40. Ouch! Worse part? We were not given heads up or any sort of explanation as to why we were deleted. Be it that we violated a particular rule (which I am very sure myself that I didn’t) or any other possible cause, we were only left to make guesses. Take note that it is not a rare occurrence in Bubblews. A lot of accounts have been deleted. Most are understandable as those members were obviously violating rules, but the rest had the same fate as mine.

So… Is Bubblews Scam?

Again, many claim that the site is a scam. However, personally, I DON’T THINK IT’S A SCAM. I have seen more than a hundred who have been keeping up with the site because they have been receiving payments. Proofs are out there. I had been receiving payments too until they had me deleted. The only question that remains in me is that why can’t they answer inquiries regarding missing payments and account deletions? I believe, if they will be able to suffice that particular concern, the issue about it being a scam will be cleared out.

Tips and Recommendations

Patience, dedication and time are the key to success in Bubblews. During the first few days or weeks, you have to be patient to see very slow improvement in your earnings. You have to allot time for “bubbling” and that you have to be dedicated in writing and reading articles. Being friendly with the community helps bring in more supporters too. So, if you think you can give these three things, then joining Bubblews will be worth a try for you. Who knows? You might enjoy it too just like many of the members. Just keep in mind, though, that Bubblews is far, far different from HubPages.
