I recently suffered from a terrible migraine and have been advised by the doctor to stay away from cheese. Cheese? I thought it’s like telling me to not eat anymore. I love most cheeses and would gladly have them any day. I can even eat cheese with steamed rice!
Unfortunately, many types of cheese, including my favorite cheddar, contains an amino acid called tyramine. It’s the culprit. And if you happen to like cheese along with salty foods, expect more frequent headaches. I was unaware of this, so I ended up with a migraine diagnosis. Now I’ll have to watch every meal I eat and make sure I lessen my salt intake every time.
