It’s the month of May. Don’t forget. In the USA, Memorial Day will be celebrated on the last Monday. Veterans who have served in our military forces will be esteemed and counted worthy for showing their patriotism and loyalty to this country – many of them with their lives. Check the television programming for the showing of war movies like The Dirty Dozen or Saving Private Ryan or a series like Band of Brothers, one of my son’s favorites. Watching movies is educational, as well as entertaining. But if you’re like me, you’re not satisfied with just seeing the final product. You want to know some of the history that went into the making of the film. The Encyclopedia of War Movies: A Complete Guide to Movies about Wars of the 20th-Century is a great reference book.
And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
(Song Lyrics from “God Bless the USA“)
