Home and Family Lets Cristina Ferrare Go

Once again, the Hallmark Network has disappointed their audience by removing a mature woman from their lineup. Cristina Ferrare has been with the show for 4 seasons and will be replaced by a younger cast member. I don’t know about you but this seems like age discrimination to me.

This follows their decision to not bring Cedar Cove back for the 4th season but to bring on a new series Chesapeake Shores which is very similar but with a younger cast.  What were they thinking?

For some reason, Hallmark seems to have lost touch with the fact the average woman in America is not a 20 something or 30 something. She is a mature woman in her 50s and 60s who enjoys seeing women of a similar age in starring roles.

Cristina Ferrare broke the news on her Facebook page since the network didn’t have the decency, to be honest, and upfront about what was actually going on and left fans waiting several weeks with no word about what had happened to their c0-anchor.

In her statement, Ferrare said  “Okay here goes, I feel it’s important to finally step up to the plate and let you know what is happening.  First, may I say that my family and I have been so thankful and appreciative for all the love, support, prayers, and good wishes you have been sending me on a daily basis for the past three weeks. It pained me so that I was unable to let you know what was going on out of respect for everyone on Home and Family and the Network. I was asked to wait and I have but now I feel I should out of respect for YOU let you know.

It’s really very simple, Home and Family will have a season 5 which I am so happy for and the Network decided that they want a new co-host and that will be Debbie. She will do a great job!

You can still reach me here on facebook and we shall continue honoring love of family and friends. I truly LOVE you all. You have been my rainbow!”

Thousands of fans have expressed their displease with this decision by the network to fire Cristina Ferrare who is a fan favorite I am sure that I will no longer be watching the show, they have lost me. You can feel free to express your displeasure to the Hallmark Network about their programming changes, I know I will be.
