Philippine basketball living legend and former senator Robert “Sonny” Jaworski is open to coach the national basketball team if offered and if the right persons will back him up.
This in-line with the Philippine basketball stakeholders accessing the Gilas Pilipinas basketball program and the PBA board stepping up with a more active participation in forming the national team that will compete in next year international joust and will be vying for the lone Asian slot in the 2016 Olympics.
Robert Jaworski dubbed as the “Living Legend” once lead the 1990 men’s national basketball team that bags the silver medal in the Asian games. Jaworski still remains as the most popular basketball player in the Philippines after being out of the game for decades thus him being voted in the Philippine Senate.
He stirs the most popular basketball team in the country, the Barangay Ginebra GinKings in the 90’s as a playing head coach, this all at the age of 50 years old thus the moniker “Living Legend”. He also donned the national colors as a player in the 60’s.
The upside of him spearheading the national team is he’s well respected by basketball community and well love by basketball fans. He’s known for his never say die attitude which also embodies whichever teams he coaches.
The downside, he’s been absent in the basketball scene way too long that he may have hard time adjusting the way basketball is being played now aswell as how basketball players evolve from his time compared to this generation.
