There are currently many types of detoxification process out there, and every time I encounter an interesting cleansing regimen I do bother to research on it a bit. My usual kind of detox is just a simple cleansing diet. I have been doing it since high school and it works well for me. I just eat mostly fruits for 5 days and within the period I feel my body begin to get rid of some toxins.
One of the most popular detox programs is the Master Cleanse Detox. It was developed by Stanley Burroughs sometime in the early ‘40s and he described it as “a valid way to eliminate bodily toxins.” Burroughs believed that toxins are the cause of all diseases. Also known as the Lemonade Diet, this diet or cleanse recommends a concoction of fresh lemon juice, water, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. The mixture should be consumed within 10 to 20 days. Master Cleanse also requires the person to drink lukewarm salt water first thing in the morning and a laxative herbal tea before bedtime. Sounds logical, if I may say so – although I haven’t given this detox diet a try. Apparently, it’s popular among those who wish to lose weight quickly. Weight loss is indeed a side effect of the cleanse, but not its specific purpose.
