Rumor had it that the Season 7 premiere of “Sons of Anarchy” would air near the end of September. Word came down today that the official date is actually Tuesday, Sept. 7 – almost 2 weeks earlier than anticipated!
As if that wasn’t good news enough, Deadline revealed that FX has given the go ahead for an extended premiere. That’s right. There will an hour and 45 minutes of ‘Anarchy’ in the premiere.
For fans who can’t get enough, there will also be a live after-show immediately after the premiere, called “Anarchy Afterward.” This live show will also air after the series finale. There is no word on exactly what the show will contain but we’re hoping for a panel type discussion of events on the show.
Creator Kurt Sutter is rounding out the regular cast this season with members of the rock world. Courtney Love will be playing a preschool teacher to Abel, Jax’s firstborn son. Marilyn Manson, who shared a picture of himself with Charlie Hunnam in their “Sons of Anarchy” characters, will be playing a powerful prison inmate with clout who puts Jax in touch with important contacts.
When it was announced that the shock rocker would be joining the cast, Manson spoke about his admiration for the show. He said it was he and his dad’s favorite show. When he shared the photo from the set on Friday on his Twitter account, he said, “”J.T. and R.T. This isn’t brunch. Tough acting like you want to kill your favorite character.”
When the show ended, police discovered Jax sobbing over the bloody and battered body of his wife, Tara. Season 7 will open with Jax in prison, presumably charged with or already convicted of her murder.
Sadly, this will be the last season of everyone’s favorite motorcycle club series. From all indications, however, it will be the best season yet.
