Rory McIlroy leads British open after day one

Today seen the 143rd British golf open kick off at the royal Liverpool course and with all players having completed the first 18 holes it is Northern Irish man Rory McIlroy who is at the top of the leader board. McIlroy carded an impressive score of 66 to sit in the clubhouse at 6 under par.He was one of the early players out and made the most of the favourable conditions which helped with his bogey free round.

“Wee Rory” has got into a bad habit of following up his great opening round on Thursdays with some truly woeful second rounds on Fridays.Just last week he opened up with a 64 and then followed it up with a 78.His army of fans will be hoping the 25 year old can halt this habit and card another good round tomorrow to strengthen his place on the top of the leader board.I guess only time will tell but I for one while not being a die hard golf fan, will be following it closely for the weekend .
