UFC 178 Johnson vs Cariaso Picks

On September 27th, 2014, UFC 178 is set to take place from the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. For me personally this is one of the best cards this year, we get treated to a title fight, an exciting new addition to the UFC roster and one of the most self-hyped fighters of the moment, and the long awaited return of a former champion. More on that within my UFC 178 Johnson vs Cariaso Picks below, if you are a fan of the UFC, or MMA, this is a card not to miss.

My UFC 178 Johnson vs Cariaso Picks are as follows:

Demetrious Johnson(c) vs Chris Cariaso

On paper this is a massive mismatch, and as such Cariaso is a huge underdog. So if you are feeling lucky and fancy a wager with a big return, this is the fight. Unfortunately he is an underdog for a reason, Johnson is on an impressive winning streak, and as a true champion should look, he looks a fair jump ahead of the rest of his division.

Pick: Johnson

Donald Cerrone vs Eddie Alvarez

Fans of the UFC have waited for Alvarez for what seems like a lifetime. He has been involved in legal struggles with his former employer Bellator trying to get the release. WIth a change in management over at Bellator, Alvarez was granted his leave. No longer a young fighter in the game and without much time to lose he has been given one of the top ranked guys in Cerrone, this should be an exciting fight for the fans.

Pick: Alvarez

Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor

The ‘people’s main event’ brings Poirier vs McGregor. There has possibly never been a fighter than has hyped themselves more than Conor McGregor has, and like with any meteoric rise, the fall awaits everyone and will all the more devastating. I don’t think that will happen in this fight however, as McGregor is (almost) as good as he thinks he is. Expect it to be a close contest, as Poirier is his toughest test to date.

Pick: McGregor

Tim Kennedy vs Yoel Romero

Army ranger and American hero Kennedy faces Cuban power wrestler Romero in this interesting match-up. Kennedy usually likes to maintain top control on the ground, but we have to assume he will not be able to force this gameplan on such a highly credited wrestler. With Romero’s heavy hands it may just be a matter of time before he catches Kennedy.

Pick: Romero
