UFC Fight Night 52 Hunt vs Nelson Picks

UFC Fight Night 52 is being held in Japan. It is a long way to travel for the American fighters, and many other nationalities on the card. With a lot of Japanese fighters competing to help boost the local attendance there is a definite advantage regarding the travel.

There are some interesting match ups on this card, and also some difficult ones with some of the relative unknown fighters. I have made my UFC Fight Night 52 Hunt vs Nelson Picks to the best of my ability as always, maybe leaning towards my favourites a little too…

My UFC Fight Night 52 Hunt vs Nelson Picks area as follows:

Mark Hunt vs Roy Nelson

A fight everyone is looking forward to. Two big heavyweights that promise to slug it out in an entertaining bout. Often this means we are in for a slow paced ground game or some other alternative, but only time will tell. Hunt is a big draw in Japan, and a fan favourite. But can he beat a younger, faster, more well rounded fighter in Nelson?

Pick: Hunt

Myles Jury vs Takanori Gomi

Gomi has not lived up to the promise he bought with him from his Pride days. He blows hot and cold, never able to put it together for more than one fight or so. On the other hand Jury is undefeated and working up towards a title shot, expect the usual stuffing of Gomi’s power and drawing out a decision or submission.

Pick: Jury

Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Amir Sadollah

I don’t want to see either of these gus lose, but someone has to. Akiyama has struggled with large American opponents, and Sadollah has been out with injury for a long period. Hard to use any current form to predict this one, other than to say that Sadollah has a better chin and more fighting heart. But will the home field advantage be a big player here.

Pick: Sadollah

Miesha Tate vs Rin Nakai

If you watch the weigh in video above, Nakai is one of the more muscle bound women competitors and I have never seen her fight before. So with that unknown how can I pick against top 5 competitor Tate. Will be an interesting match to watch, one I am looking forward too.
