I’ve always loved the idea of dabbling in different careers and seeing what I enjoy the most and what I can be the most successful in. There is something particularly satisfying that comes with the personal knowledge of how a specific industry works. It gives you a sense of education that follows you everywhere because it’s built on a foundation of experience. I found this feeling in spades when it came to the reclusive world of writing.
I’ve lived through some very personally trying experiences—and this very often leads to writing as a way of healing. That’s one of the wonderful aspects of putting things behind you: it gives you a clearer view of what’s in front of you. The anger and pain and resentment I was putting down on paper gradually transformed from madness to a method: I was now writing with a purpose beyond healing; I was writing to share a journey of discovery, of setbacks, and of progression. A small, personal stimulus ended up introducing me to an entirely new industry that exists across the world. Writing.
The World of Writing

Emerging from those buried and seldom discovered seeds, my passion for what I was doing as a hobby grew into a new set of goals in a career that I would have never imagined getting involved in. A slow development that truly needed its time to emerge from the shadows, my desire to record my story transformed into the objective of sharing my story—and this led to the ultimate goal of publishing a book.
Taking it sentence by sentence, paragraph by paragraph and chapter by chapter, I slowly saw that vision start to come to life amidst the months and years and new experiences that passed by. From the painful process of reminiscing, to the agonizing process of writing, to the joy-filled process of revising, my ‘book’ slowly began to come together.
An industry that teaches you as you work is a uniquely satisfying one, and it definitely helps when you never run out of things to learn. I learnt that sometimes you need to take that leap of faith and share that goal you’ve been working towards with the world. It’s still with a hint of reservation that I now say that my writing goal, ‘Deferred: My Extraordinary Journey to New York University Abu Dhabi’, is now achieved. It’s been published, and that’s still something I’m trying to come to terms with saying.
Yet, my book, which I can say with a sense of pride in the accomplishment, is available on Amazon, iTunes, and Kobo Books.
The voyage that started with late-night typing sessions and early-morning revisions came to an end in a completely new world, bringing me to the doorstep of a completely new career. And I couldn’t be happier that I decided to stick with it.
